For the past few weeks I've been working a little each day on my latest writing project: a story/novel about a German infantryman in World War II... in German!  (Writing an English version shouldn't be too hard. haha)  With each phrase/sentence/paragraph I figure out how to write (so as to convey just the right meaning), I feel like my mind is being levered open very gradually with a crowbar.  It's a daunting progress but each morsel of the language I discover and absorb brings satisfaction. Many people are of the opinion that German is a harsh, guttural language.  (I won't go into the politicosociological stigma that German[y] will forever
